“Have You Not Heard”, News At Eleven’s debut album, is the end result of over a full year of pre-production, recording, mixing, and post-production.The album title is a line from “I Will Never Forget You,” a plaintive yet hopeful original song based on various passages in chapters 40-50 of Isaiah. The song reminds us that God is always with us, even during the darkest times in our lives. Another original, “We The Church,” with its anthem-like refrain, reminds us that it is the community of believers, and not the building (whether the smallest room or the largest cathedral), that makes us “Church.”
“Have You Not Heard” also features the group’s fresh take on a number of Catholic classics—from Rich Fineza’s soaring improvisations on “Peace Is Flowing Like A River”, to the group’s all-a cappella rendition of the universally known “I Am The Bread Of Life” (and yes, even the drums were done vocally!).
Rounding out the album are creative reinterpretations of contemporary Christian praise and worship songs like “This Kingdom”, “Be Magnified”, and “Here I Am, O Lord”.
