Song Title
Mysteriesis the name of the new album by this amazing musician. This 23-song collection echoes Rose’s devotion to the Rosary. They are her expressions of how the Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries of the lives of Mary and Jesus intersect with each of our lives today. Most of the pieces are based on scriptural stories and written from the perspective of one of the key figures in the story. Each song is molded to fit each mystery. If you are looking for a CD in which every song sounds the same, this CD is not for you. You will find an elements of every type of musical genre that exists. Celtic, Country, Rock, Classical, Jazz and Blues are just a few of the styles that Rose includes in this CD. Popular Catholic musician, Tom Booth, along with Matt Maher, produced the CD and helps write a couple of the songs with Rose.
There are nearly two hours of music, and it starts with the song "True Love." Though it is not related to the Rosary, it does sums it up and gives an invitation to discover the true love of Jesus. The song has a warm, coffeehouse-rock feel and sounds much like Jewel or Sarah McLaughlin. This song should be a single and played on contemporary radio. The perspective of the Angel Gabriel is seen in the "new country” style song "Let It Be Done Unto Me (First Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation.)" Blues and Jazz elements are used in "Jesus Within You (Second Joyful Mystery: The Visitation)," where we hear from both Elizabeth and Mary. We witness "Simeon’s Joy (Fourth Joyful Mystery: The Presentation)" in a Bluegrass approach. My favorite song is a wonderful mixture of genres in "Behold The Lamb Of God (First Luminous Mystery: The Baptism)." Rose’s voice is truly awesome in this piece and she shows her true vocal talents. This is also evident in the acapella song "Listen To Him (Forth Luminous Mystery: The Transfiguration)," where Rose and company tell the story of Peter. This has a lot of Manheim Steamroller sound in it. You get a harder rock feel on the song "Crucify Him (Second Sorrowful Mystery: The Scourging)," which is from the standpoint of the mob calling for Jesus’ death. It's just plain vocal poetry on the song "Crown Of Thorns (Third Sorrowful Mystery : Crowning Of Thorns)," in which we see this powerful mystery from the viewpoint of the rose thorn. It will leave you with a lump in your throat listening to the tell of thorns wanting to be the king's rose but picked too soon and pressed into Jesus' brow. "Rejoice (Second Glorious Mystery: The Ascension)" is a toe-tappin, southern gospel, bluegrass-sounding song seen from Jesus side. With lyrics like “Rejoice, I’m with you always… Through I’m taken into heaven, I’ll return in bread and wine….” It is followed quite nicely by the song "Be God’s (Third Glorious Mystery: The Decent of the Holy Spirit)," in which Rose is accompanied by Tom Booth on guitar and a beautiful choir of vocals. This song is inspired by the Prayer of St. Francis. The last song on the CD is the staple of the entire album. Called "Reason To Believe," it tells us that we must be like Jesus and live so others will see the True Presence of Him in us. We can get closer to that goal when we pray the Rosary.
Mysteries is a must-have for anyone who prays the Rosary. However, the value of this set is not lost on those who do not pray this prayer. This CD is very youth friendly and may help those who have a hard time starting, to find an interest and explore the faith.
This compilation is simply breath-taking! I just started listening to it for the first time, and though I am not done with it yet, I know it will be one of my all time favorites. It is so awesome because it can make you pray, help you pray, and is still great music so you can just listen to it while driving the car! I was getting goosebumps practically the whole time I was listening to it. What a gift Danielle Rose is for the Church!!Other CDs I have enjoyedFr. Stan
Danielle Rose lets loose her soaring, all-notes-worthy tonal range to shed The Lord's new light on the range of 20 Mysteries of our Blessed Mother's Rosary ... stunning me with the range of her soul-shaking, revelations on how Jesus Christ leads us to do The Will of Our Father ... on Earth as it is in Heaven. The ambitiously stylistic, sacred sounds framing Danielle's musical mission here are uniformly clear, strong and united to Danielle's innovative, insightful lyrics which lead me to a deeping of my Rosary reflection of the Son of Man's Divine Power. Just one of many sparkling gems, "Star of Bethlehem", floods my heart with God's Love through the chorus "I was chosen to shine the light ... of my Lord Jesus Christ". A group of children chime in, their sweet, swelling voices supporting Danielle's dynamic lead ... then they finish acapella alone ... but by then I realize we're never alone, all called as one of Our Savior's beloved chosen ones, made in the image of Our Father :) And must mention falling for Danielle's heart-breaking, painful paean, "Crown of Thorns", an acapella appeal for Divine Mercy, rising up in emotive power from the depth of her soul. Just get this rich, welcome wall of spiritual sonic strength ... and let your heart trip over itself in humble prayer of thanks to Our Lady for leading us to her son, Jesus Christ :) And thanks to Danielle too!
I was first introduced to Danielle Rose's music at a women's retreat. Now I listen to her almost daily. She has a beautiful voice and a lot of talent. I was excited to find out that all of the songs were written in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Each one is a prayer. I highly recommend the CD to anyone.
Danielle Rose is an extremely talented musician and songwriter. I was fortunate enough to have met her in person when I attended The ND Vision retreat at Notre Dame in Indiana. She was very compelling when she talked about her experiences abroad with those less fortunate and her personal audience with Pope John Paul II. She then sang the song "Crown of Thorns" and others just as inspiring. I especially consider "Crown of Thorns" to be one of the best songs I had ever heard. You can only understand what I mean when you have heard it for yourself. It is definitely worth your while.
This is the first Catholic CD I have bought. I was not disappointed. There is a musical style for everyone & the lyrics are amazing. The songs connect you to Jesus & His Blessed Mother through the events of their lives in such a powerful way. As you listen, you almost forget your listening to "Catholic" music. The songs are so beautiful & easy to sing along with. I am almost afraid to ever buy another CD for fear of disappointment...this CD is that great!

I love this cd. Danielle has a very petty voice. one of my fav. song is crown of thorn. i get lost in the words. a friend of mine let me hear this cd. i fell in love with it. i've been telling alot of people about her.
Danielle Rose's glorious voice echos the beauty of the lyrics in this musical rosary! It's obvious that she has meditated on the mysteries of the rosary, and God has blessed her with the messages of this album! It's one of my all time favorites! I learn something new each time I listen (and I do that a lot!) Love this album, and I can't wait for the next one from this talented artist! Praise God for Danielle Rose!
I can't even begin to describe how these lyrics affect me, every single time I listen to them. She is not only such an amazing vocalist, but she's doing it in the name of our Lord. Danielle Rose is a true inspiration and I'm so lucky to have been graced with her music.
I stumbled upon an internet reference to Mysteries while researching the Glorious Mysteries, ordered it right away, and haven't stopped listening to it since. During my current novena, I have been amazed at what Our Lord and Blessed Mother have to teach us through these mysteries and her music lends even deeper meaning to them. I am spreading the word of her music joyfully.Other CDs I have enjoyedNicole C. MullenAudio Reflections of the Rosary
God's Grace is singing through Danielle Rose in this CD. Her words make you see the greatness and beauty of the Catholic Church. All the words are humble and make you see the point of view for each mystery. I love 'A Father's Song' about St. Joseph and 'The Star of Bethlehem' and 'A Love Song for Jesus' among all of the other songs. I am constantly listening to them and I reccomend this CD to anyone of any age. It's even easy listening for children.=)Other CDs I have enjoyedDefining Beauty by Danielle RoseWelcome to Life by Matt MaherOverflow by Matt Maher
This is the first Catholic/Christian music I have ever bought. When I got it, I turned it on intending to listen to a few tracks, but I couldn't turn it off until I finished the whole 1st CD. Then I didn't listen to the 2nd CD for a few weeks, certain that the 2nd one couldn't possibly be as good as the first. But I was wrong - it is as wonderful! For the past month, I have had one or another of these songs playing in my head (if not on the CD player) constantly. They are beautiful, musical, moving, deeply felt with such clever, educational, and inspiring lyrics. And it's music that I enjoy that is also easy for the kids to listen to.
Our son, Brother Raphael,OSB introduced us to "Hail Holy Queen" and her CD reinforces how powerful the Rosary is. The Scripture and Danielle Rose's angelic voice make each song a prayer.
