Elizabeth Hynes

Elizabeth has loved to sing ever since she was a little girl. She would listen for hours to her Broadway musical records and try to emulate the styles of the vocalists on them. Elizabeth remembers how her Mother would patiently listen and critique her, saying "...hold onto that note…”, or “…sing that a little slower and with more feeling..." So, although Elizabeth doesn’t have what one would consider a "professionally trained" voice, she feels she’s had some pretty good vocal training, thanks to her Mom and her old record player.
Growing up in a large family with six siblings in Connecticut and later South Florida, Elizabeth sang in school choirs and in various school productions. When she was a teenager, she began singing for her parish church, St. Jude. Elizabeth sang most Sundays and led the congregation in song as a cantor (song leader) for a number of years. After college and marriage, she returned to South Florida and continued to sing for church services as well as for funerals, weddings and other special occasions.
In 1994, Elizabeth and her husband moved to Georgia where she began cantoring again at some of the local Catholic churches in the area. Elizabeth still loves to sing and whenever an opportunity to sing publicly comes along, she welcomes it. It's something she’s always enjoyed and to Elizabeth, the thrill of being on stage and singing to a receptive audience is like no other.
In 2002, Elizabeth made the decision to make her first vocal recording. It was a long road getting to that point, but once the decision was made to record, all the details came together pretty smoothly. "Serenity" is a result of a combination of efforts and the songs selected for the album are favorite spiritual / inspirational songs of Elizabeth and her family.
