With a full plate of composing and
conducting projects, award-winning composer John Debney is one of
the busiest and most capable musicians in Hollywood. To his
success, Debney utilizes both his classical training and a strong
knowledge of contemporary sounds in order to easily adapt to any
assignment.
John has just finished scoring Mel Gibson's controversial biblical
epic, PASSION OF THE CHRIST. He is also currently working on
Disney's PRINCESS DIARIES II and Universal's RAISING HELEN starring
Kate Hudson and produced by Garry Marshall. Earlier last year, John
scored the comedy blockbuster BRUCE ALMIGHTY starring Jim Carrey and
directed by Tom (LIAR, LIAR) Shadyak.
Other recent projects include WELCOME TO MOOSEPORT starring Gene
Hackman and Ray Romano, ELF starring Will Ferrell and THE HOT CHICK
starring Rob Schneider. John's other projects included SPY KIDS II:
ISLAND OF LOST DREAMS, THE PRINCESS DIARIES, THE TUXEDO, THE
SCORPION KING, DRAGONFLY, Disney's SNOW DOGS and JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY
GENIUS.
Debney
was involved with two of the biggest hits of 1997. One being the Jim
Carrey comic bockbuster LIAR LIAR (which has grossed over $300
million worldwide), directed by Tom Shadyac. That same year, Debney
scored Columbia Pictures/Mandalay Entertainment's horror thriller I
KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER with a screenplay by Kevin Williamson,
whose previous project was the mega-hit SCREAM. The film starred
Jennifer Love Hewitt (PARTY OF FIVE) and Sarah Michelle Gellar (BUFFY
THE VAMPIRE SLAYER) and was directed by Jim Gillespie.
In addition to his composing projects, Debney has embarked on a
series of recordings of classic film scores for Varese Sarabande
records, conducting works like SUPERMAN, THE SEVENTH VOYAGE OF
SINBAD, TITANIC, BACK TO THE FUTURE and SOMEWHERE IN TIME with the
Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
