The Dogma Dogs are cartoon
dogs who play in a Catholic rock band and evangelize puppies in the Faith. They
are the brainchild of Amy Lewkowicz, producer and director of the project. The
CD was funded through a grant from Our Sunday Visitor and features bands and
singers from the Knoxville, Tennessee area. The Dogma Dog artwork was created
by children's illustrator Danny Wilson, of Knoxville, and cartoonist Shane
Johnson of Ellensburg, Washington.
"Miss Amy" has been directing
music in Catholic churches and playing in praise bands (including the
Virginia-based band VISION) for many years. The founder of Liturgical Groove
Productions, she is very interested in promoting liturgical and theological
education through traditional and non-traditional means. She holds master's
degrees in both theology and liturgical music and has a secret (?) fondness for
Tom Lehrer and the Dr. Demento show. She is pictured here surrounded by members
of the St. John Neumann Children's Choir, who provide background vocals on the
album.
